Okay, so this series is so utterly awesome that I've read all three books that are out so far and but came upwardly for air to kickoff my reviews. They are so funny that I was laughing like a hysterical idiot on volume 3 at 2:30 am terminal dark and waking up my family. Tears were streaming downwards my face.

This beginning i, strangely, might fifty-fifty be the least funniest, and it'due south hilarious. They really go funnier every bit you lot go because this town is merely insane. The all-time role is that they don't fifty-fifty realize but how crazy they are either.

Business equally usual.

So, we run across Lilah, a crazy girl who lives in Crazytown. She is bummed out that she has no one to appointment considering all of the guys there accept been in a beard-growing competition for the past nine years. They aren't even allowed to trim them or anything. So, every bit far as she knows, none of them are attractive. Of course, it's hard to tell because... beards.

So, don't be picturing this:

Flick this:

Lilah's aunt decides to set her up with a new guy in boondocks who doesn't have a beard (still). Spotting the noob is actually piece of cake here. He's gorgeous and she can see his face, but her best friend - a guy with a beard - is acting strangely jealous.

One thing leads to another and her bestie ends up shaving his beard, and holy crap, he is hot under all of that hair! The girls in boondocks go crazy and are lining up at his door, with baked appurtenances. Lilah needs to pale her merits quickly.

Lilah too has two brothers, so when they realize that there is a relationship starting to simmer, they demand to do what all protective brothers practice.... if they are batshit crazy, that is. There is an epic h2o-battle. With cannons. And maybe explosives. Merely, that'southward okay considering that might assistance wash away some of the paintball paint that their crazy neighbors pelted them with just for canoeing by their land....

Really, it's like the level of crazy happening in this book is so out-there and hilarious that there is almost no style to do it justice by trying to explain. Just read it when you are in the mood to laugh.

Lilah Vincent is 1 potent, feisty and crazy chick! I loved her relationship with her brothers and how loyal she was to her 'corner'. The things her brothers go upwardly to, I would take killed them if they were my brothers. Not Lilah, she only thought up cunning and vicious ways to become them back.

Then we have the great beard claiming, and then crawly!! I loved how information technology had been then long since the challenge started that they didn't even know what each other looked like without the beards. Don't go me started on the reactions of the unmarried women in town when the challenge was finally over, hilarious!

OK, permit's talk about the volume. Really, I've now realized that I was as well late to starting time a book by C.Grand. Owens, simply better late than never, right?

"Condign a Vincent" is the first book in The Wild Ones series. It is a volume that is "likewise light" with actually funny characters.

There is this town called Tomahawk, where crazy families live. Their concept of fun or revenge is a chip immature but however funny, yet.

*********************************************

The book is brusque, 150 pages. It is told in dual point of view. Some other characters that will appear every bit heroes/heroines in the following books are introduced in this book so you lot'd better read them in lodge if you are interested.

*********************************************

Do non expect something deep and meaningful here. This is not a very emotional romance with depth in it. It is a nice pastime, that's all. It has some hot moments simply the book is aimed at being hilarious and it really made me either smile or LMAO. Goal accomplished, I judge :)

Therefore, whenever yous need a suspension from some sad or nighttime reads and need a very low-cal and very fun book, you lot tin try this ane.

*********************************************

Here are some quotations from it...

In Tomahawk, we rank people based on only how crazy you are. And the 4 craziest families in town are chosen the Wild Ones.

***

How did I end upward in a tree, wielding a stick like a mythical sword, while a cougar decides if I'k worth the trouble of mauling to expiry or not?

Two reasons: Hale and Killian Vincent.

Those are my brothers. I'one thousand one third of a set of congenial triplets. My theory is that all the oxygen in the womb was cut off from the 2 jackasses who are responsible for my current predicament, and I'm the only ane who escaped with functioning encephalon cells.
...
The cougar groans or growls or both. I'm non really sure. I don't speak cougar, only I think that was a sound of frustration, and fortunately, she decides not to shimmy up the tree after me.

***

My aunt has been trying to marry me off since I turned xviii. That was half dozen years ago. She's old school.

I'one thousand surprised she waited until I was xviii, if I'k being honest. If it'd been up to her, and if I had been more mature— pfft —I'd have been married past sixteen and popping out babies by eighteen, like my mother. But it wasn't up to her. Still isn't. And I'm still not mature enough for tiny human making.

***

Damn dead chipmunks and their level of crazy. Lilah's crazy as hell too, but she'due south too my crazy girl. She never dates the cuntwads her aunt brings to her similar plated edibles. She always sticks with me.

Plain she's mine. Everyone knows it—even Paul who also pissed me off today. Why the actual fuck did she clothing that outfit? It was practically encounter-through. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but information technology was very fucking thin, and there wasn't a lot that could be ignored. Her trunk was showcased. Her donkey was practically begging to be touched. Then those signature combat boots of hers just set it all off like a wet dream.

Every guy out there—sans the married and the family—momentarily forgot she was a Wild One and also forgot she was mine.

Guys effectually hither aren't going after the Wild Women. Crazy, think?

***

Nosotros both wait at my aunt, who is clutching her easily together and staring at usa with hearts in her eyes. That weird audio was apparently her vocalizing her excitement and non the sound of a cat losing its tail.

***

He drops to his knees, cupping his balls as his face up turns ruddy, and I smiling as I wave, reminding him who I am.
Yep.
That's correct.
I'm a Vincent.
We're one corner of the Wild Ones.
He really should take seen that coming.
Bastard.

***

Trying to form a response becomes impossible when his head suddenly dips and disappears between my thighs.

One swipe of his natural language has me forgetting the English language.

2 swipes of his tongue has me forgetting my name.

Three swipes of his tongue has me only remembering his name.

***

If I'chiliad in dear with Benson, then my life is going to suck even more than. Considering it hurts to dearest someone y'all desire to shoot a little.

This is Lilah and Benson'south story and holy heck did I love everything nigh them. A friends-to-lovers trope can be catchy and I did worry near this losing some of its charm the farther into the relationship it went, but I worried for nothing. Both the hero and heroine are with no 1 else once they get friends and even if it took some time for them to recognize what they wanted, and already had, their beliefs was proof to everyone effectually them that they were together.

"That, my darling niece, is existent dearest. It'due south not e'er going to slap you in the confront, though that kind is amazing too. I would know. Simply sometimes, information technology burns you so subtly, that yous don't realize you lot're boiling until information technology's too late. The h2o but too a while to heat up with you, kiddo."

Of form, Lilah, beingness Lilah, has her own thoughts on the consequence of beingness in love:

"And if I'm in love with Benson, and so my life is going to suck even more. Considering information technology hurts to beloved someone you desire to shoot a petty."

description

While we just have a little bit of Benson'southward signal of view, at that place was never a question of how he felt or that he was exactly what Lilah needed. He found her crazy to be part of her charm – if a Wild One could accept charm – and he displayed enough jealous, possessive moments to make my heart sing.

Lilah, on the other hand, let her freak flag wing complimentary, dead chipmunk and all. She'south discombobulated most her irresolute feelings for Benson so she deals with it like a normal Vincent would.

"I'one thousand being ridiculous. I tin can't cease being his friend even if he does get a girlfriend. I'll but accept to make her life hell – simple chore for a girl like me – until she's gone.
At that place. Plan fabricated. Trouble solved."

With all the anarchy and pandemonium that exist in their corner of Tomahawk, a girl, even a Wild One, has to acquire quickly how to handle any given situation. Lilah was more than capable of taking care of unruly business when required, which was often.

Killian is tapping a bat's stop into his palm, and Hale is propped up on a shotgun.
"I'll give you ane minute to get back to your cabin. One minute before I catch the BB gun. And then I'll take no mercy," I warn them."

This is a lightning fast read with extremely low angst. Nosotros do take a bit of drama and this couple have an outcome they have to bargain with. But when you've got a Wild 1 as your significant other, it takes more than just talking things through.

"There's only one way to win back the heart of a Wild One. You lot have to prove you're crazy enough to deserve it."

Despite an epilogue that only gives u.s.a. a few weeks wait into the future, it was hilarious, information technology was heartwarming and it was perfect. More so when the Author's note at the end promised so much more to come from this wacky world of Wild Ones. There volition be no delay in reading the rest of this serial!

Yeah, it's a fantastic relief to see nosotros all carry a little bit of crazy in ourselves...

4 "wild" Stars

We're vehement. We're loyal. We're occasionally destructive. Nosotros're undoubtedly wild. Because nosotros're the Wild Ones.

Initial Thoughts

Information technology'south official I want to move to Tomahawk, Washington. The people may be wild, and the men may have intense ass beards, and yet there is an undercurrent of love, affection, and unity within the minor lake community. C.1000. Owens has also ane again wowed me with her ability to write such a great heroine. Not only that, only with Becoming Vincent and the Wild Ones series, she has proven she tin create a great community and deftly handle a large cast of characters. Basically what I'one thousand saying is, WHY HAVEN'T I READ THIS SERIES EARLIER??? And on top of that, it doesn't seem similar C.M. OWENS is going to be continuing this series - or be writing in general. . .

ANYWHO. . .

A Brief Summary

BECOMING A VINCENT , focuses on Lilah Vincent (one of the 4 "wild" families) and her best friend Benson Nolans (not gonna lie that Southward in his last proper name annoyed me). Her and Benson have been friends for iii years and have become inseparable. All the same, she doesn't really meet him every bit a true romantic interest (sorta) until he shaves his intense ass beard. See all the men in this town accept a "beard growing competition", as you lot practice, that has been going on for NINE FREAKING YEARS. Gentlemen, when you lot have to pull your beard back to swallow, Information technology IS TIME TO SHAVE. What ensues is a sweet, slightly crazy, romantic one-act of sorts that sees Lilah and Benson pursuing their feelings for i another. In between the sweet romantic moments we witness what it truly means to exist dubbed a "wild i".

The Highlights

Lilah Vincent - The "Tame" Wild One ✦ Find I put tame in "" marks. Hate to break it to you Lilah, simply if you shoot your boyfriend in the balls with a BB gun then deplorable sister, you lot're a wild one. However, that violent streak is what fabricated me dearest Lilah so much. She may not be as crazy equally her brothers, but, boy oh male child, yous do not want to cantankerous her. Every bit I mentioned above I adore the mode C.M. OWENS writes her female characters. While Lilah isn't my favorite (that spot will e'er belong to Lana Meyers) she still earns my respect. Lilah is both empathetic and caring, while too not being agape to back up her words with deportment. At get-go I was a little confused why anybody referred to her every bit "wild" when she seemed pretty normal. . .

Yeahhhhhh I was dead wrong the minute she did this -

Just as he'southward about to pull away, I plough effectually, aim my gun, and shoot Benson correct in the nuts.

I realized why she had such a *cough* wonderful reputation. Yep she's all sweet and prissy seeming until yous cantankerous her. After that. . .well lookout man out crusade she has a BB and she'southward not afraid to apply information technology.

The Community of Tomahawk, Washington

Besides Lilah the best thing nigh this volume was easily down the boondocks, and people who resided in Tomahawk, Washington. These people are bat-shit crazy in the all-time style possible. This is a community who will rally around each other - for example the origin of the beard challenge - while at the same time will unabashedly fuck with each other for fun (i.e. the water cannon). I think my favorite moment came when the town basically told Benson and Lilah that they were getting married, and that Benson will be taking Lilah's last name.

"Instead of building a fifth corner amendment, he's joining the Vincents, since he and Lilah will be getting married." Hey! "Nosotros really haven't decided on that yet," I interject. "You lot'll be getting married," Vick says dismissively.

It really is a attestation to C.M. OWENS'Southward writing that I was able to come up to love and connect with this community within just a few capacity. I came for the romance, and stayed for the "Wild Ones" of Tomahawk.

The Romance - AKA. Becoming Wild ✦ I actually liked the romance between Benson and Lilah. It was really actually sugariness and became the grounding bespeak of the story. Basically in between some. . .HIJINKS. . .we get a lovely friends-to-lovers story. And, I have to say this was one of the better washed friends-to-lovers romances that I've read. I liked how both Benson and Lilah met and gradually came to fall in love with each other. While nosotros didn't get to see their outset 3 years of friendship they already seemed to take this beautiful connection. For Benson Lilah's brand of crazy was perfect for him. And for Lilah Benson was someone she could both lean on and count on to be her partner.

You lot've been in love for who knows how long. Having sex activity is just i small office of the human relationship equation, and it has no effect on whether or not you're in love."

Benson Nolans

"Benson Nolans," Vick starts, looking effectually at everyone else, "has apparently gone wild."

Man I don't know what information technology is, only while I liked Benson I notwithstanding didn't love him as much as I loved Lilah. I remember it's because he played more than of the "direct-human being" to her "wildness". Condign A VINCENT was very much Lilah and Tomahawk'southward story. Benson remained a flake of a mystery for most of the book, and we didn't get the answers to those questions until the stop. Nevertheless, despite me not loving him, I still liked him. He had his moments of "crazy", and the mode he adored Lilah was super sweetness. He's non the star of the book, simply he is a solid hero/grapheme.

"I've been in love with you for over a year, Lilah Vincent. Y'all're a dissimilar make of crazy than I realized if you think I'm going to permit you go now."

Plus I hateful the way he won back Lilah was both hilarious, and showed merely how well he knew her.

And he won me over the second he took my brothers out with a freaking water cannon.

Why Simply four Stars

I Wanted More than. . . ✦ I've been trying to put my finger on why this was just a 4 star read, and I think I figured it out. While this was Lilah and Benson's story it too felt like an origin story for the town of Tomahawk itself. Basically to me information technology felt similar C.1000. OWENS had the hard task of both introducing Lilah, and the crazy wonderful boondocks of Tomahawk. Due to that, I felt like in that location could've been a bit more than time dedicated to developing Benson and Lilahs love story.

In Closing

Becoming A VINCENT , was such a fun book! I had a bully time reading nigh Lilah, Benson, her crazy brothers, the boondocks of Tomahawk, and everything in betwixt. While I may have wanted a bit more than time with Lilah and Benson I still throughly enjoyed what we got. If you're a fan of "small-boondocks" books then this series is perfect for you. Plus I mean h2o cannons and BB guns. Does it get any better than that?

Lilah is in cutoff jean shorts and a "Md Holiday" T-shirt, as she shoots Hale with a BB, simultaneously kicking Killian in the stomach while he'due south on the ground.

I retrieve I've mentioned it in one of my previous reviews besides that I have seen crazy. In my family, friends and sometimes in the mirror too.

..............and this would be all us ladies.

Now the main thing that I liked- the human relationship betwixt the siblings was amazing! (I'm nonetheless not happy that Unhurt and Killian don't accept books, only oh what the heck.)

Benson- now this is the office where I say that I love the man but I don't. Lilah he'due south all yours darling. I don't exactly like him fifty-fifty, he was okay for me. He had his moments (like twice, I swayed) simply apart from that he was really uncomplicated and bland compared to Lilah. Lilah was like a firecracker- bright, smart, quick and of course- left a burn.
Simply their relationship was still prissy and I would've liked a back story too, only unfulfilled wishes are kind of a trend in today's time. And I'1000 non talking about books.

This book wasn't near the substance of the plot every bit far as I could tell and the author has mentioned it in the end likewise. This was intended to be lite, fun and a break from her nighttime books and information technology stood fully on that. So this was great for a break and fun read simply if you lot desire something with real depth and all the feels, this one is not for you. Yet.

PS: you practice realize that Hale and Killian tin equally a grouping be referred to equally Kale right? No one likes kale only you lot sure would love them.

I love the friends-to-lovers trope, and this ane is a Aureate medalist. Lilah and Benson are perfect for each other, and their chemistry is off the charts. No drama lama for these two. If your looking for a light easy read with a ton of humor and two awesome main characters, and so whorl upwardly with a warm blanket and get ready to have your boat rocked. My cheeks injure from all the grin and LOLing I've been doing (I think I demand Dermal fillers at present), and I think the 100+ book highlights are proof of that.
